I grew up in Netarts, Oregon playing several sports through
Junior High and High school. I started gymnastics when I was
6 and was competitive until the age of 13. I was
also part of the winter and spring track team, swim team, and
volleyball team from 7th through 12th grade. I was introduced
to golf by my grandmother and my grandfather who were part
of the junior golf program at the time at our local golf course.
They convinced me to come see if I would like the
game. I will never forget that first day of junior golf where
I met great new people and fell in love with a
sport that I will play and respect for the rest of my life. I
won my very first junior golf championship that year and went
on to play number one on my High school golf team for 4 years.
My second year of playing for the team I was walking down
the 5th hole at the local Alderbrook Golf Course and I was asked
by my playing partner, “What do you want to be when you
grow up?” At the age of 15, I knew exactly what I wanted
to be and I said “I want to be a professional golfer.”
I was recruited to play for the women’s golf team at the
University of Oregon. I was accepted into the Fine and Applied
Arts program at the University and decided to make that my major.
After two years of trying to be successful on the golf team and
perfect my talent, I decided that I would turn my focus 100%
towards golf. I then turned
professional in the year 2003 and set my goal on joining the
LPGA Tour.
